Wranglers Trip Up Bugs

Oct 15, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs (4-4-1) couldn’t get much going in the contest and fell 3-1 to the Amarillo Wranglers Friday night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
Amarillo made quick work on their first PP opportunity when Kristaps Scrastins fired home his 10th goal of the season from the RW circle to give the Wranglers a 1-0 lead at 5:13 of the opening period. The Wranglers would cash on their second man-advantage when they took advantage of a Shreveport breakdown as it was Anthony Vidrick shooting in his second tally of the year to make it a 2-0 contest at 11:20. The Bugs would roar back on a PP of their own when Austin Brimmer slammed one toward the net and it was Niklas Miller flipping in the rebound for his second goal of the season to cut the deficit in half at 2-1 at the 14:11 mark. The Bugs out-shot the Wranglers, 16-8 after one.
It was a fast-paced second period, but only saw one goal scored in it and it came at 19:36 off a breakdown in front of the Bugs’ net where Yaroslav Samadov slammed in a juicy rebound in front  to make it a 3-1 lead for Amarillo.
The Bugs just couldn’t get much going offensively in the 3rd period as far as quality chances were concerned. Shreveport led in SOG, 33-21 at the end of the game, but fell 3-1 at the conclusion.
