Bugs in 0-2 Series Hole after another Setback to Top Seeded Warriors in South Division Finals

May 6, 2023

The Shreveport Mudbugs (3-4) gave up five unanswered goals and lost 5-1 to the Oklahoma Warriors in Game 2 of the South Division Finals at Blazers Ice Centre Saturday night.
SHV broke through at 19:54 of the opening period as Jake Mack threw a puck in front and it was Nik Miller shoveling home the rebound in front for his second goal of these playoffs to give the Bugs a 1-0 edge. The Mudbugs led in SOG, 10-8 after a good 1st period overall for the road club.
Oklahoma responded on their first PP of the series as Drew Sutton took a perfect pass and slapped in his fourth goal of the postseason from the far post to even the score, 1-1 at 5:17 of the second period.
The Warriors delivered another big third period and it started at 11:18 as Joey Delgrego drilled a shot from the left point which snuck its way through to give OKC a 2-1 lead at 11:18 on the PP. Oklahoma added another one on the man-advantage as William Lawson-Body banged in his second tally of the playoffs to give the home team a 3-1 lead at 12:50. The Bugs couldn’t generate much of a comeback as the Warriors added two more goals to complete a 5-1 victory over the Mudbugs.
SHV trails the best-of-five series, 0-2.

The Bugs and Warriors will shift their South Division Final series to Shreveport for Game 3 next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
