Warriors Cool Off Bugs

Mar 24, 2022

The Shreveport Mudbugs (28-19-5) couldn’t solve Brandon Milberg in net and were shutout 3-0 by the Wichita Falls Warriors at Kay Yeager Coliseum Wednesday night.
The Bugs suffered a huge blow just 20 seconds into the game as Logan Gotinsky took a hit from behind along the far half wall from Adisen Brueck. Gotinksy went down and had to be carried off in a stretcher. A five-minute major penalty and ten-minute misconduct was assessed to Brueck on the hit. Shreveport would be unable to cash in on that opportunity in addition to three other PP’s in the opening period. The reigning champs out-shot WF, 14-5 in a scoreless opening frame.
Wichita Falls got on the board at 8:52 of the 2nd period William Lawson-Body fired home his 12th tally of the season from the LW circle capitalizing on a 2 on 1 odd-man rush to give the Warriors a 1-0 edge. WF would extend their lead on the PP at 19:23 when Phillip Tornqvist roofed in his 15th goal of the year from the RW circle to make it a 2-0 contest. The Bugs led in SOG, 20-19 after two.
The Bugs just couldn’t stay out of the penalty box and it hurt them some more late in the third as Drew Vieten poked home his 13th goal of the campaign in front to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead at 15:53. That would be all she wrote as Shreveport dropped just their second contest in their last eleven played.

The Bugs will conclude their last road trip of this regular season in Amarillo, TX as they’ll have a two-game series against the Wranglers beginning this Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. from the Amarillo Civic Center.
