The Shreveport Mudbugs (20-7-2) got a pair of goals from Andrew Seminara to roll past the Colorado Grit, 5-0 and earn another sweep at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.
SHV got off to another fast start as Andrew Seminara roofed in a rebound in front for his first goal of the season giving the Bugs a 1-0 lead at 3:53. Carter McKay and Wil Murphy earned the helpers. The Bugs continued their hot ways as Lucas Deeb took a perfect feed into the slot and fired home his 10th tally of the year to make it 2-0 at 12:49. Brayden Cook made the perfect pass and earned the only assist on the goal. The two-time Robby Cup Champs would put the icing on the cake as Seminara took a beautiful behind the back pass from Ryan Burke and slammed in his second goal of the night to push the advantage to 3-0 at 15:01. Burke and Alex Park picked up the assists. SHV led in SOG, 12-8 after one.
After a scoreless second period, the Bugs poured it on in the third period as at 3:37, it was Colin Vassallo ramming in a rebound along the short side to extend the lead to 4-0. Carter McKay picked up the only assist. SHV put the cherry on top of this game at 14:50 when Brent Litchard got some time and space and wacked in his third goal in as many games from the RW circle to complete a 5-0 Bugs’ shutout victory over the Colorado Grit.
Nikola Goich made 26 stops to pick up his first shutout of the year and help SHV capture their fifth straight victory and ninth in their last ten games overall.
The Bugs will be off next weekend for the Holidays before returning home to host the Oklahoma Warriors for a two-game series beginning on Dec. 29th. It’ll be our “Run from the Relatives” themed night w/ puck drop scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum.
