Seguin-Lescarbeau Earns his Third Shutout as Bugs Coast by IceRays to Win Eighth Straight

Jan 6, 2024

The Shreveport Mudbugs (23-7-2) glided by the Corpus Christi IceRays, 5-0 behind a big night from Hayden Nichol and Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau to earn their eight straight victory in George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.

SHV got on the board early at 2:41 of the opening period when Carter McKay buried home his second tally of the season from the slot with traffic in front of the net to make it a 1-0 Bugs lead. Ian Emery and Logan Heroux earned the helpers on the game’s first goal. The Bugs would get a goal late in the period at 19:36 as Brayden Cook tipped home his second goal in as many games to push the edge to 2-0. Hayden Nichol and Ryan Burke picked up the assists.

SHV added to their lead at 18:36 of the second period as Liam Fleet flipped the puck off the end boards which took a fortunate bounce in front for Hayden Nichol to smack in for his 12th tally of the year to increase the lead to 3-0.

The Bugs remained in cruise control in the third period and put the game away as Nichol tucked in his second goal of the night to make it 4-0. SHV would put the cherry on top as Lucas Deeb poked home his 12th tally of the season in front to complete a 5-0 Bugs shutout win over the IceRays.

Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau made 24 stops to earn his third shutout helping SHV win their eighth straight contest.

The Bugs and Rays will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
