The Shreveport Mudbugs (13-7-1) got a lift from Hayden Nichol in the shootout and stellar goaltending from Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau to grind out a 1-0 victory over the Odessa Jackalopes at Ector County Coliseum Friday night.
Both teams were scoreless after two periods of play despite both squads coming so close to getting on the board. It was an even battle through two as SHV led in SOG, 22-21.
The game stayed scoreless after brilliant saves from both netminders in the 3rd period and OT from both Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau and Quentin Sigurdson sending the game into a shootout.
In the shootout, Hayden Nichol would deke out their netminder and forehand in the only tally of the session. Seguin-Lescarbeau would stop all three shots he faced to earn the shutout.
Seguin-Lescarbeau made 33 saves to help the Bugs win 1-0 over the Jacks.
The Bugs and Jacks will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night at Ector County Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
