The Shreveport Mudbugs (2-2) couldn’t generate many offensive chances and were topped 3-1 by the El Paso Rhinos at the El Paso County Events Center to force a Game 5 on Monday night.
ELP got on the board at 11:48 of the opening period on the PP as Luke Lindsay hammered in a goal from the left point to give the Rhinos an early 1-0 edge. SOG were tied 9-9 after one.
After a scoreless second period, the Rhinos got a goal from Alexandre Pellerin as he poked home in front off a scramble out in front to make it 2-0 at 4:37. SHV got on the board at 10:24 on the PP as Ryan Burke found an opening on the backdoor and slammed in his first tally of the playoffs getting the Bugs on the board trailing just 2-1. That’s all the offense SHV would be able to muster and Jakub Jerman jolted in an EN goal at 17:55 to close out a 3-1 Rhinos victory over the Mudbugs to force a game 5 back in Shreveport on Monday.
The Bugs and Rhinos will play a winner-take-all Game 5 this Monday at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
