The Shreveport Mudbugs (38-13-2) got another big night from their Co-Captain to lead the way to a 3-1 victory over the Oklahoma Warriors at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.

SHV got on the board w/ a shorthanded tally at 7:51 of the opening period when Ryan Austin floated a head-man pass to Hayden Nichol who skated in on a breakaway and got the goalie to go down and roofed in his team-leading 22nd goal of the season from the short side to give the Bugs a 1-0 edge. OKC led in SOG, 9-8 after one.

SHV added another goal at 10:41 of the second period when Carter McKay deflected a shot in front for his sixth goal of the year. Wil Murphy and Ryan Austin earned the helpers. OKW responded at 16:37 as Max Dronen tipped home his 10th through the slot to make it a 2-1 contest. The Bugs led in SOG, 20-17 after two.

The Bugs put the game away at 17:05 of the third period on the PP as Nichol ripped home his second goal of the night from the right wing to extend the lead to 3-1.
