Muscutt’s First NAHL Goal Not Enough against New Mexico

The Shreveport Mudbugs (6-6-2) gave up three straight goals and fell short to New Mexico, 4-3 to split their two-game series Saturday night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
After trailing the game early 1-0 in the opening period, the Bugs responded in grand fashion. At 4:30, it was Kason Muscutt sliding through the slot and roofing in his first goal of his NAHL career to even the score, 1-1. Brent Litchard and Ryan Burke set the play up and earned the assists. Shreveport would then take the lead on the PP as Drake Morse went to the slot and redirected home his second goal of the campaign to give the home the team 2-1 at 10:19. Logan Valkama Jaden Goldie picked up the assists on the PP tally.
After NM tied the game in the 2nd period, they had a ton of momentum going into the 3rd. The Ice Wolves would capitalize on two PP chances to sneak a few goals past Simon Bucheler. to make it a 4-2 NM lead with 2:54 remaining in the game. Nik Miller would jab in his third tally of the year at 19:57 to make it a 4-3 contest, but that’s the closest Shreveport would get.
Bucheler suffers his first loss in net this season.

The Bugs will hit the road for the next month beginning with a two-game series against the Oklahoma Warriors. Game one of the two-game series will be next Friday night with puck drop scheduled for 7:15 p.m. from the Blazers Ice Centre.
