Mudbugs succumb to a bizarre call in favor of Topeka

Apr 7, 2017

The Mudbugs fell behind early in the 1st period, but answered the bell so to speak when Cam Cook tipped home a shot from Dominick Procopio for his 18th goal of the year. The score was even at 1 after 1 period of play.

Frankie Melton tipped home a perfect feed from the top from Dominick Procopio for his NAHL leading 35th goal of the year. The goal gave Shreveport a 2-1 early in the 2nd period. Topeka responded with a fluky goal which bounced off of Croix Evingson and into the back of the net to even things up at 2.

The game stayed tied at 2 after the 3rd period. Then all the weirdness came out late in OT as Jay Feiwell thought he scored the GW goal at 4:22 but it was Will Schlagenhauf who scored before Feiwell’s goal which was initially ruled “no goal” during play from the official. After upon further review, they ruled it was a good goal from Topeka and the Roadrunners skated away to an odd 3-2 OT win.

These two teams will be back at it tomorrow night at 7:15pm.
