Mudbugs Shut Out Amarillo

Feb 17, 2019

The Shreveport Mudbugs (23-17-8) muscled in a pair of goals and it was more than enough for Leo Chuard as they shutout the Amarillo Bulls, 2-0 Saturday night in front of a packed house at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
The Bugs cashed in on an odd-man rush in the 1st period when Andrew Jackson threw a perfect pass to Billy Feczko who fired home his third goal of the year from the left wing to give Shreveport the early 1-0 edge at 16:01. The Bugs led in SOG, 14-11 after the opening period.
Amarillo put the pressure on the 2nd period, but both teams missed on glorious chances in front. The biggest save of the game came at 19:35 though when Logan Jenuwine skated in all alone and got robbed with an unbelievabe glove save from Leo Chuard to keep it a 1-0 contest. Amarillo out-shot Shreveport, 15-7 in the middle period and led in SOG overall, 26-21.
The Mudbugs were clinging to a one-goal lead in the third period until Gueorgui Feduolov flipped in his seventh goal of the season from the left wing to extend their lead to 2-0 at 17:15. Jackson earned his second assist of the night.
The Bulls couldn’t solve Chuard in net all night long as he made 34 saves on the night to pick up his third shutout of the season.
Shreveport picked up three out of a possible four points in this series against the South Division leaders.

The Mudbugs will be off next weekend for Top Prospects and return to action as they’ll battle their old playoff foe in the Corpus Christi Ice Rays Feb. 28th for a two-game series at the American Bank Center. It will be a special Thursday, 10 A.M. tilt.
