Mudbugs Final Regular Season Home Finale Ends in Loss

Apr 1, 2017

The Ice Rays spoil the regular season home finale for the Mudbugs winning 5-2 ending the Shreveport winning streak at five games.

The Ice Rays scored two goals early in the game, but Shreveport struck late when Kyle Kawamura tipped home his first goal as a Mudbug to cut the lead in half at 2-1 heading into the 1st Intermission.
The only highlight of the second period is when Alex Spencer and Jayson Dimizio locked up in a huge fight which lit up the packed crowd at Georges Pond.

Corpus Christi scored early in the 3rd, but Frankie Melton responded a minute later with a great shot from the near side of the net for his NAHL best 34th goal of the year. That would be the closest the Bugs would get to the Ice Rays as Corpus Christi scored two goals in the second half of the third to seal the victory.

The Mudbugs will be back in action next Friday in Topeka, Kansas to take on the Roadrunners. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
