Mudbugs Fall to the Bulls

The Shreveport Mudbugs (11-10-3) fell to the Amarillo Bulls, 3-2 Friday night suffering their first regulation loss at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum this season.
After trailing 1-0 early in the game, the Mudbugs stormed back late in the 1st period. Tim Khokhlachev took a fortunate bounce off the end boards and powered home his 2nd goal as a Mudbug in the slot tying the game up at 1 at 17:06. The goal was unassisted, but the Bugs didn’t stop there. Shreveport lit the lamp again at 19:17 on a perfect 3 on 2 break and it Joel Frazee tapping in his 2nd tally of the year on the short side giving the champs a 2-1 lead. Conor Witherspoon and Jack Jaunich earned the assists. Shreveport led 2-1 after one period of play as the SOG were tied 12-12.
The 2nd period was uneventful for the Shreveport as Amarillo tied the game on the PP at 4:25, 2-2. Mudbugs had some good scoring changes, but couldn’t get one across as the game stayed tied 2-2 after two periods of play with SOG in favor of Amarillo, 27-21.
The game stayed tied 2-2 in the 3rd period until Cooper Fensterstock was able to tap in his third goal of the year at 10:43 which was the game-winning goal of the game. The Bugs just couldn’t muster many chances to tie the game later on the final period as Amarillo out-shot Shreveport, 42-29.
The Mudbugs suffer their first loss in regulation at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum this season.

The Bugs and Bulls conclude their two-game tomorrow night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. ​
