Mudbugs Drop Finale; SHV Goes 3-1 in Showcase

Sep 16, 2023

The Shreveport Mudbugs (3-1) couldn’t get much going all game long and dropped a 5-1 decision to the Maryland Black Bears for their first loss of the season Saturday morning.

Maryland got on the board at 13:21 of the opening period on an odd-man rush when Demitry Kebreau slapped in a tally from the far side to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.

Jeremi Tremblay would score a pair of goals in the second period to extend the Bears’ lead to 3-0. SHV would finally get on the board late in the period as Lucas Deeb would smoke in his first goal of the campaign from the slot to make it a 3-1 contest.

Maryland would score two more goals to complete a 5-1 win over Shreveport handing the Mudbugs their first loss of the season.

The Bugs will host their arch-rival in the Lone Star Brahmas for their home opener beginning next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
