Mudbugs Blast the IceRays

The Shreveport Mudbugs (9-2) scored early and late and got great goaltending to blast out the Corpus Christi IceRays, 7-0 Friday night at Georges Pond.
The Mudbugs lit the lamp quickly to begin the game when Jacob Holmers tipped home his first goal of the year in front of the net giving the Bugs an early 1-0 lead at 4:15 of the opening period. Dominick Procopio got the only assist on the goal. Shreveport sizzled the crowd 1:22 later when Jack Clement slammed home his third goal of the season with Brenden VanSweden getting the only assist on the tally.

Shreveport led 2-0 after the 1st period and extended their lead when Jack Clement wired home his 2nd goal of the night from the left circle on the PP to give the Bugs a 3-0 lead at 8:18 of the period.

The Mudbugs exploded in the third period with goals scored from Cole Quisenberry, Cameron Cook, Jacob Holmers, and Ryan Burnett putting the icing on the cake as Shreveport skated away with a 7-0 victory.

James Durham picks up his 2nd shutout of the season.

The Mudbugs have four straight games and nine of their past ten games.

The Mudbugs and IceRays will complete a two-game set tomorrow night at Georges Pond with the puck drop scheduled for 7:11pm. ​
