Apr 29, 2023

The Shreveport Mudbugs (2-2) found a new, but familiar hero in Drake Morse in OT to help lift his team over the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-2 in OT to force a decisive game 5 this Monday night back at the Nytex Sports Centre.

After a scoreless opening period, the Bugs broke through on their first PP of the night in the second as Jaden Goldie jolted in his second goal of the playoffs from the left point at 9:54 to give SHV an early 1-0 lead. The PP tally was assisted by Liam Fleet. LSB responded as Jakub Karpa shot one in from the left point and through traffic to even the score, 1-1 at 16:43. SHV came right back on the shorthanded variety as Goldie found Drake Morse along the far side and he faked out their netminder and tucked home his first goal of the postseason to give the Mudbugs a 2-1 edge at 18:18. The home team led in SOG, 18-17 after two.

Lone Star would cash in w/ their first PP goal of the series at 7:57 of the third period as Karpa created space in the slot and buried home his second goal of the game to knot the game up, 2-2. The game would stay tied at the end of regulation sending the game into yet another OT.
The game stayed tied until 19:59 of OT when Morse created space at the top and wired home his second goal of the night to lift the Mudbugs to a 3-2 victory over the Brahmas and force a game 5 this Monday night at 7 back at Nytex Sports Centre.
Nikola Goich made 27 saves to earn his second win in net in this series.
