The Shreveport Mudbugs (11-7-1) out-shot their opponent, but couldn’t score any as they fell 2-0 to the Odessa Jackalopes at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.
Odessa capitalized on their first PP opportunity at 15:58 of the opening period as Teddy Manlove shot in a rebound in front to make it a 1-0 contest. SHV had their chances, but couldn’t cash in as they out-shot ODA 13-7 after one.
After a scoreless second period, the Jacks put the game away after a brutal turnover from SHV and it was Thomas Wright ramming in his second goal of the season pushing their lead to 2-0 at 16:53 of the third. The Bugs out-shot the Jacks, 37-25, but couldn’t cash in on their grade A chances all game long.
The Bugs and Jacks will conclude their Military Appreciation series tomorrow night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. Just another reminder if you are attending tomorrow night’s game to stay afterwards as we’ll auction off all our Military Specialty jerseys worn by our players.
