Ice Wolves Top Slumping Bugs

The Shreveport Mudbugs (6-8-3) had some fluky bounces go against them and dropped a 3-0 decision to the New Mexico Ice Wolves at Outpost Ice Arenas Friday night.
After a scoreless opening period, NM struck first at 7:29 of the 2nd period when Will Howard redirected a shot in front for his 13th goal of the season to give the home team a 1-0 edge. Shreveport came up empty on their chances including a pair of PP’s, but out-shot New Mexico, 22-16 after two
New Mexico added to their lead at 1:20 of the 3rd period when Tony Leahy flipped in a goal to extend the lead to 2-0. The hits kept coming at 3:40 as Leahy wires home his second tally of the year to make it a 3-0 contest. The Bugs just couldn’t get much going after that and dropped their fourth straight game.

The Bugs and Ice Wolves will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT from Outpost Ice Arenas.
