Ice Rays’ Win Forces Game Five

Apr 21, 2018

The Shreveport Mudbugs couldn’t overcome a late 3rd period goal given up and lost in overtime to the Corpus Christi, 3-2 in game 4 Friday night at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

The Bugs took advantage of their first PP opportunity of the game when Cole Quisenberry drilled home his second goal of the series between the circles at 10:50. Jack Clement and Ryan Burnett grabbed the assists on the goal putting Shreveport ahead early 1-0. Corpus Christi responded when Adam Kadlec hit a open net after Gustavs Grigals made a nice save initially. The game was tied 1-1 after the opening period of play. Mudbugs led in SOG, 10-5 after 1.

Shreveport dominated the 2nd period and got rewarded at 10:26 when Jake Transit steered a puck up ahead to Gueorgui Feduolov who had time and space and buried home his second tally of the postseason putting the Bugs up 2-1. The Mudbugs led 2-1 and out-shot the Ice Rays, 19-12 after two periods.
The Mudbugs led 2-1 in the third period until Brendan Miller of the Ice Rays got a lucky bounce in front and drove the puck into the back of the net at 18:52 to tie the game up at 2.
The game stayed tied at 2 heading into sudden death overtime and Grayson Gavin was able to power in a puck past Grigals at 11:43 to give the Ice Rays a 3-2 win and a heartbreaking loss for Shreveport.
The Mudbugs and Ice Rays will now play in a winner-take-all game 5 Sunday night back at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm.
