ICE RAYS STOP THE BUGS

Oct 14, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs (9-3) gave up four unanswered goals and couldn’t recover from it as the Corpus Christi IceRays skate away with a 5-2 win Saturday night at Georges Pond.
The Mudbugs got on the board first in the first period Cam Cook put an innocent wrister on net which deflected in and out of the glove of IceRays goalie Chad Veltri and into the back of the net. The fluky score gave the Bugs an early 1-0 lead at 13:03 of the period.

The IceRays responded in the 2nd with two goals from Jayson Dimizio and a goal from former Bug Garrett Hallford to put Corpus Christi up 3-1 after two period of play.

Corpus Christi added to their lead in the 3rd period when Matt Acciaioli scored shorthanded to put the IceRays up 4-1 midway through the 3rd. Jack Jaunich would bang home his first goal of the season, but Corpus Christi would blast in an EN goal to close out a 5-2 victory over the Mudbugs.
The loss ends Shreveport’s four-game win streak.
Shreveport will now travel to Alaska to take on the Kenai River Brown Bears for a two-game set starting next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
