Gotinsky’s Pair of Goals Help Bugs Top Warriors

Oct 4, 2022

The Shreveport Mudbugs (2-4-2) got a big night from their third year players to lead the way to a wild 4-3 victory over the Oklahoma Warriors at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Saturday night.
The Bugs got off to a hot start as Jake Mack got a rebound in front and swept in a rebound in front for his team-leading fourth goal of the year just 43 seconds into the game. Maksim Sushchynski and Alex Park earned the helpers on the game’s first goal to give Shreveport the early 1-0 edge.
After a scoreless middle period, we had a wild 3rd period unravel on our hands. Oklahoma would score a pair of PP goals from Garrett Horsager at 1:37 and 5:30 respectively to give the visiting team a 2-1 lead. The Bugs would respond on the PP of their own as Nik Miller fed Captain Garrett Steele on the back door who slammed home his second goal of the season to even the score, 2-2 at 6:15. Then it was Logan Gotinsky who redirected home his second goal in as many games at 9:15 to give the Bugs a 3-2 edge. Logan Heroux and Hayden Nichol earned the assists. Oklahoma wouldn’t go away as they tied the game yet again as Hunter Jones snapped in his fifth tally of the year along the far side and made it a 3-3 contest. Gotinsky wasn’t done though as he played hero at 13:32 who went top shelf along the far side for his second goal of the game to give Shreveport a 4-3 lead. Jaden Goldie and Mack picked up the assists.
Tommy Aitken was solid again in net earning his second win in net making 29 saves on the night.

The Bugs will conclude their home-stand next weekend as they’ll host the Odessa Jackalopes for a two-game series beginning next Friday night from George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
