Cook’s OT Goal Lifts Bugs Past IceRays

The Shreveport Mudbugs (7-4-1) came back from another two-goal deficit and got the game-winning tally from a local-born to dramatically beat the Corpus Christi IceRays, 3-2 in OT at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Saturday night. 
 
 
The IceRays capitalized on both of their PP chances in the opening period w/ goals from Athony Cafarelli and Billy Biedermann at 14:49 and 19:08 respectively to give Corpus Christi a 2-0 edge. The visiting team led in SOG, 12-11 after one. 
 
 
SHV got on the board just 50 seconds into the second period as Nick Marino got in front and jabbed in his fifth goal of the year to cut the deficit to 2-1. 
 
 
 
After a penalty-filled second period, the Bugs found some late magic in Will Murphy finding the back of the net as he slammed home his first goal of the season at 15:41 of the third period, dramatically evening up the score, 2-2. Brent Litchard and Ryan Burke earned the helpers on the game-tying tally. 
 
 
The game would go into OT and at 3:35 it was Brayden Cook racing up the left side of the ice and roofing in his third goal of the season lifting the Shreveport Mudbugs to a 3-2 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays. Murphy and Kyan Haldenby picked up the helpers. 
 
 
Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau earned the win in net making 24 saves on the night. 
 
 

The Bugs will hit the road for the next three weeks beginning w/ another rivalry series w/ the Lone Star Brahmas next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Nytex Sports Centre.
