SHREVEPORT – The Shreveport Mudbugs, proud members of the North American League are pleased to announce the signing of forward Cannon Green to a tender contract for the 2017-2018 season.  Green becomes the fourth player signed by the Mudbugs for next season.

“Cannon is good sized forward who plays a power game,” Director of Scouting Mike Grattan said.  “He drives the net, is comfortable below the hash marks and he also has a skill set than enables him to make small area plays in high traffic areas of the rink.”

Hailing from Birmingham, MI, Green is currently in his second season as a member of the Oakland Jr. Grizzlies organization.  A top five point getter on his U18 ‘AAA’ Grizzlies squad, the 2000 birth year has tallied 28 points in 24 games this season.  In 2015-2016, the 5’11, 175 pound forward put up 39 points in 58 appearances on the Grizzlies U16 team.

In addition, Green becomes the second Oakland Jr. Grizzlies player to join the Mudbugs fold for the 2017-2018 season, after fellow line mate Jake Transit signed a tender contract last week.

Associate Head Coach Francis Anzalone likes the addition of Green and believes he is a young player whose best hockey is ahead of him.

“Cannon is an interesting player to us because while he is only a 2000 birth year, he already plays a man’s game,” Anzalone added.  “His base is solid, yet he also has a lot of development time ahead of him.  That’s exciting for him and it’s also exciting for us.  We look forward to going through the entire development process with a player and person like Cannon.”
