Bulls Sweep the Bugs

Dec 1, 2018

The Shreveport Mudbugs (11-11-3) dropped a heart-breaker to the Amarillo Bulls, 4-3 dropping their third straight at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

Trailing 2-0 early in the 2nd period after giving up two powerplay tallies, the Mudbugs responded at 5:46 of the middle period. It was a perfect play designed as newcomers Tim Clifton centered a pass brilliantly for C.J. Regula to rifle home in for his first goal as a Mudbug. The Bulls led 2-1 after two periods of play. Amarillo led in SOG, 21-13 at this point.

Down 2-1 in the third period, Anton Rubstov was able to shoot in his 4th goal of the season to tie the game up at 6:10. The Bugs fed off that momentum as Ethan Harrison was able to rattle in his team-leading 11th goal of the season at 12:46 and all of a sudden, Shreveport led 3-2 in the game. Then Amarillo responded with two goals in the last five minutes from Logan Jenuwine to stun the Bugs and the home crowd with a 4-3 lead with 2:40 left in the final period.
Shreveport muscled up a late surge, but couldn’t come up with the game-tying goal and dropped their third straight at home.
The Bugs will hit the road back up to Topeka, KS to take on the Pilots for a two-game starting next Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
