Bulls Overtake Bugs

The Shreveport Mudbugs (22-17-8) squander a lead going into the 3rd period and fall to the Amarillo Bulls, 3-2 in OT Friday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
Shreveport lit the lamp at 16:01 of the opening period when C.J. Regula went coast to coast and snapped a good goal past Jason Grande along the short side to give the Bugs a 1-0 edge. David Breazeale earned the only assist on Regula’s tally. Amarillo came right backhowever as the always dangerous Logan Jenuwine worked his way into the right wing and shot one in for his NAHL-leading 43rd goal of the season nodding the game up, 1-1 at 19:02. The Bulls led in SOG, 8-6 after one period of play.
The Bugs answered the bell in the 2nd period when Ryan Dickinson tipped home his third goal of the season in front to break a tie game at 14:19 and make it a 2-1 Shreveport lead. Ethan Harrison an Jay Feiwell grab the assists on the PP tally. It was the only goal of the period as the Mudbugs out-shot the Bulls, 12-7 in the frame.
The Mudbugs carried a 2-1 into the 3rd period and the Bulls were able to rally once again in this season series between the two teams. At 4:13, Jason Brancheau was able to win the faceoff and shoot in the game-tying goal. The Mudbugs squandered plenty of opportunities on the powerplay going 1 for 7 which included a pair of 5-3 advantages.
The PP woes came back to haunt them as the game went into OT and Gabriel Seger was able to tuck home the game-winning at 3:11 lifting Amarillo to a come from behind 3-2 victory over Shreveport.
Maiszon Balboa takes a tough luck loss in net snapping a personal four-game winning streak.
The Bugs earn a point for their efforts and stay in 2nd place in the South Division.

The Bugs and Bulls will conclude their two-game series tomorrow at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. ​
