Bulls Beat Bugs Back

Jan 19, 2019

The Shreveport Mudbugs (17-15-6) fell to the Amarillo Bulls, 6-2 in a wild and crazy contest Saturday night at the Amarillo Civic Center.
The Mudbugs got off to a rough start in the 1st period and had to weather the storm. Through the storm, the Bulls got on the board at 3:45 when Alex Peterson was able to poke home a rebound in front to give Amarillo an early 1-0 lead. It could have been worse, but the Bugs penalty kill was able to kill off six penalties to keep it a 1-0 contest. SOG were 22-8 in favor of the home team.
The Bugs gave up an early tally in the 2nd period and trailed 2-0, but got one back later in the period. Shreveport capitalized on the powerplay when C.J. Regula came across the left wing and rattled in his seventh goal of the year with traffic infront of the net. Jack Jaunich and Timmy Clifton earn the assists on the goal to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. SOG were 38-19 in favor of the Bulls after two periods of play.
The 3rd period started out terribly for the Mudbugs as they were unable to get the puck out of their own zone and Logan Jenuwine was able to intercept and shoot in a goal from the left wing to make it a 3-1 Bulls lead. The game then got away from Shreveport as Leo Chuard got tossed out of the game after a big fight infront of his cage. Amarillo would go on to get goals from Alex Peterson, Gabriel Seger, and Jenuwine again in a span of 1:34 to break the game open at 6-1. Clifton would score from the left corner for his third goal of the game at 18:50 on the PP to make it a 6-2 contest and that’s how the game would end.
Shreveport drops their sixth game against Amarillo this season. Bulls lead the season series, 6-4.

The Mudbugs will travel to North Richland Hills, TX Monday to take on their arch rival in the Lone Star Brahmas for a MLK day tilt. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. from the Nytex Sports Centre.
