BUGS WIN THEIR FOURTH IN A ROW!!

Mar 26, 2017

The Bugs fell behind early 1-0, but responded quickly when Croix Evingson blasted home his 12th goal of the season on the powerplay which was also his fourth point of the weekend tying the score 1 midway through the 1st period.

It was a wild and crazy 2nd period as Gueorgui Feduolov scored a pair of goals including a goal just 12 seconds after the Wildcats tied the game at 2. Wichita Falls answered back with two goals late in the period to take a 4-3 lead heading into the 2nd intermission.

Head Coach Karlis Zirnis switched goalies to begin the 3rd period going with Dyllan Lubbesmeyer. It was the spark that Shreveport needed as the Mudbugs responded in a big way as Brendan Gysbers gave Kieran Durgan a perfect cross ice feed which was slammed from #8 to tie the game, 4-4 at 10:50 of the 3rd period. The Bugs then took the lead at 17:01 when the Captain Steven Mather shot in a juicy rebound in front for his 17th goal of the year which came on the powerplay. The goal gave Shreveport the lead 5-4 late in the game and the Bugs held on to win their fourth straight contest.

Shreveport will return to Georges Pond this Friday night to take on the Corpus Christi IceRays. Corpus will be a tough test for the Bugs as they’ve been all year winning 8 of the last 10 matchups this season already. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm.
