Bugs Wallop Warriors for their Fifth Straight Win

Dec 17, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs (10-11-4) got another big performance from Davis Goukler to lead the way to a 4-1 win over the Wichita Falls Warriors for their fifth straight overall win Thursday night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
It was an evenly played opening period with not many great scoring chances for either team. The Warriors led in SOG, 7-6 after one.
The Bugs got on the board at 2:07 when Davis Goukler drilled home his third goal of the season from the LW circle to give Shreveport the 1-0 edge. Connor Gatto with the drop back pass earned the primary assist with Tyler Behl grabbing the secondary helper. The reigning champs would add on a speedy rush into the offensive zone and off a rebound in front, it was Gatto firing home his second tally of the season to push the lead to 2-0. Lukas Sedlacek and Goukler earned the assists on the play at 5:03. Shreveport led in SOG, 15-11 after two.
Shreveport extended their lead at 3:41 of the 3rd period when Drake Morse roofed in his second tally of the season to make it a 3-0 lead. Goukler earned the only assist which was his third point of the night. Wichita Falls got on the scoreboard when Max Dronen fired home his second goal of the season from the RW circle to make it a 3-1 contest. Any comeback attempt from the Warriors would be negated as Lukas Sedlacek would slap in an EN goal at 17:21 to close out a 4-1 victory over the Warriors.
Devon Bobak had to make just 16 saves on the evening to earn his fifth straight in net.

The Bugs and Warriors will conclude their two-game series tomorrow night from George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
