Bugs Top Bulls in OT

The Shreveport Mudbugs, (30-6-3-2) received two goals from Cam Cook including the game-winner in OT to top the Amarillo Bulls, 4-3 Friday night at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Shreveport trailed early 1-0 before Brendan VanSweden did great work down low to center Roberts Baranovskis to bury home his seventh goal of the year from the far circle. The goal tied the game at 1 and it stayed that way through one period of play. Amarillo led in SOG, 16-11.

The Bugs came out blazing in the 2nd period as VanSweden did some more great work down low to set up Cameron Cook this time for a one-timer to give Shreveport a 2-1 lead at 3:39 of the period. It was Cook’s 16th goal of the season. The Bulls would tie it at 2-2 shortly after, but Andrew Lane slapped in his 2nd goal of the year on the powerplay to give the Bugs the lead back, 3-2 at 9:36. The Mudbugs led 3-2 after two periods of play with the SOG, favoring Shreveport, 29-24.

The Bulls responded just 32 seconds into the third period to tie the game at 3.

The game stayed 3-3 until Cook delivered in OT with bang in rebound for his 2nd goal of the night and 17th of the season. Jordan Fader & Dominick Procopio grabbed the assists on the game-winning goal.

Shreveport beats Amarillo, 4-3 in OT and now leads the season series, 7-0.

Gustavs Grigals gets his 15th win in net making 33 saves in the contest.

The Mudbugs and Bulls will conclude their two-game set in Amarillo tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm. ​
