Bugs Sweep the Jr. Blues

Sep 1, 2018

The Shreveport Mudbugs got timely scoring for a second straight coupled with solid goaltending to earn the 3-1 victory over the Springfield Jr. Blues at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

The Mudbugs scored the game’s first goal on a very fortunate bounce in front and Gueorgui Feduolov getting credit for the tally giving Shreveport the 1-0 lead after the opening period.

After Springfield tied the game up early in the second period, it was Lukass Sicevs who intercepted a pass and scored on the backhand for a breakaway goal at 7:34 to give the Mudbugs the lead back at 2-1. Shreveport held that same score after two periods of play.
Shreveport extended their lead at 1:27 of the third period when Justin Cmunt put a blistering shot from the point to score his first goal of the preseason giving the Bugs a 3-1 edge. That would be the last goal of the game.
Richie Parent grabbed the win in the cage.
The Mudbugs and Blues will both play another two-game set next weekend in Springfield next Friday night with the puck drop scheduled for 7pm.
