Bugs Stop the Jacks Again

The Shreveport Mudbugs (33-6-3-2) made two goals stand as the difference in shutting out the Odessa Jackalopes, 2-0 Saturday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
Shreveport got on the board first in the first when Cameron Cook tipped a perfect feed from Brendon Gysbers into the back of the net. It was Cook’s 19th goal of the year as 17:55 of the opening frame. Gueorgui Feduolov picked the second assist on the goal. Mudbugs led 1-0 after one period of play.
After a scoreless second period and great goaltending from both sides, Brendon VanSweden iced the game powering a shot from the near circle into the back of the net for his 8th goal of the year at 18:58 of the third period. Gueorgui Feduolov picked up the only assist on VanSweden’s goal.
Shreveport shutouts Odessa, 2-0 for their sixth straight win overall.
Jaxon Castor picks up his second straight shutout as a Mudbug and third straight win in net.

The Mudbugs will be back in action this Monday afternoon for a Presidents Day tilt at Lone Star to play the Brahmas. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:05pm.
