Bugs Shutout Bulls to Force Game 5

May 2, 2019

The Shreveport Mudbugs (5-4) were able to respond after a gut-wrenching loss the night before and shutout the Amarillo Bulls, 2-0 Thursday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum forcing a Game 5 on Sunday back in Amarillo.

Both teams had good scoring chances in the opening period, but both goalies in Leo Chuard for the Bugs and Justin Evenson for the Bulls stood tall in net. Amarillo led in SOG, 18-13 after one period of play.

The Bugs finally broke through at 16:12 of the 2nd period when Conor WItherspoon held the zone and flipped it forward to Jay Feiwell to dished it on over to Gueorgui Feduolov who fired home in his second goal of the playoffs in front. It was the game’s first goal giving Shreveport the 1-0 edge. Mudbugs out-shot the Bulls, 15-2 in the middle period and overall shot totals favored Shreveport as well, 28-26.
The Mudbugs clamped down defensively holding a 1-0 lead throughout most of the 3rd period and it was Captain Jay Feiwell who was able to muscle his way into the Bulls zone and wraparound an EN goal for his second tally of the playoffs giving Shreveport a 2-0 lead at 19:42 which would be your final score.
Leo Chuard was brilliant yet again as he made 40 saves as he picked up his first shutout of these playoffs.
The Bugs and Bulls will now play a winner-take-all Game 5 Sunday night back in the Amarillo Civic Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
