Bugs Shut Out the Bulls

Dec 10, 2017

The Shreveport Mudbugs (19-4-2-2) shutout the Amarillo Bulls, 5-0 on their teddy bear toss night at the Amarillo Civic Center.
The Bugs came out of the gates strong in the 1st period when Ryan Burnett opened up the scoring with a rocket shot from the slot for his fourth goal of the year on the powerplay. The PP goal was assisted by Andrew Lane and Jack Clement at 5:13. Burnett wouldn’t stop there as he slipped in his 2nd goal of the night with an innocent wrist shot from the right point that found its way into the back of the net at 11:59. The goal was assisted by Clement and Jordan Fader. Shreveport led 2-0 early when Cole Quisenberry took a perfect pass from Kieran Durgan shorthanded and buried it into the cage for his ninth goal of the year giving the Mudbugs a 3-0 lead after one period of play.
Kieran Durgan netted his 11th goal of the year with a great shot from the left wing circle on the powerplay at 17:38 of the 2nd period. The goal was assisted by Lane and Roberts Baranovskis. Shreveport led Amarillo, 4-0 after two periods of play.
The 3rd period would get testy, but Durgan snapped home his 2nd goal of the night unassisted at 1:02 of the final period. It was Durgan’s 2nd goal and third point of the night. That would be the last of the scoring for both teams as James Durham picked up his fourth shutout of the season stopping all 34 shots he faced from the Bulls.
Durham improves to an NAHL best 9-1-1 personal record in net this season.
Shreveport hasn’t lost a game in regulation in their last 12 games going 9-0-2-1 in that stretch.

The Mudbugs will have a quick turnaround and be back in action this Wednesday night as they’ll be hosting their playoff foe in the Corpus Christi Ice Rays at Georges Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm.
