Bugs Lose Late to Brahmas in Regular Season Finale

The Shreveport Mudbugs (28-22-10) drop another tough game late to Lone Star in the regular season finale Saturday night at the Nytex Sports Centre.
The Bugs opened up the scoring in the 1st period when C.J. Regula slid across a perfect pass and it was Mark Capkovic on the short side to slam home his 2nd goal of the year. The game’s first goal occurred at 11:09 and was assisted by Regula and Anton Rubstov giving Shreveport the early 1-0 edge. The Bugs led in SOG, 11-6 after the opening period of play.
Lone Star came back to tie it up in the 2nd period when Nick Wieben jammed in a goal from the short side at 7:51 tying the game, 1-1. Shreveport and Lone Star got feisty throughout the period including a big fight breaking between Jack Jaunich and Eric Huss. The Bugs led in SOG, 17-14 after two periods of play.
The game stayed tied 1-1 until the 19:21 mark of the 3rd period when former Bug Thomas Daskas shot in the go ahead tally to put the Brahmas ahead 2-1. The Bugs had to desperately pull their netminder Maiszon Balboa in a last ditch effort to tie the game which fell short. Shreveport drops another tough game to Lone Star.

The Mudbugs and Brahmas will meet again in the 1st round of the NAHL playoffs with game 1 back at the Nytex Sports Centre next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ​
