Bugs Beat the Bulls

The Shreveport Mudbugs (13-11-4) kept their recent hot powerplay going to guide them to a 3-1 victory over their arch rival Lone Star Brahmas Friday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
Shreveport took advantage of their first powerplay opportunity when Gueorgui Feduolov threw one at the net that found its way through for his first goal of the year at 9:21 of the 1st period lifting the Bugs to the early 1-0 lead. The Bugs out-shot the Brahmas, 10-5 after one period of play.
The Mudbugs extended their lead in the 2nd period at 5:21 when Jay Feiwell stole a puck at center ice and raced down the ice and bombed one in for his eighth goal of the year shorthanded giving Shreveport a 2-0 edge. Lone Star came back midway through the period to get one back to make it a 2-1 Bugs lead after two periods of play. The Bugs led in SOG, 20-16.
Shreveport got the all important insurance goal in a tight affair as Feduolov was able to backhand home a juicy rebound infront at 11:49 on the PP again to give the Bugs a 3-1 lead. Jack Jaunich got the only assist on the goal.
Leo Chuard wasn’t too busy, but was good when he needed to be making 19 saves to grab his tenth personal win.
The Mudbugs and Brahmas will continue this three-game set tomorrow night game two at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. and it will be Teddy Bear Toss night. ​
