The North American Hockey League announced their 2022-2023 Divisional Awards and Simon Bucheler and Hayden Nichol were both honored among a coveted list.
Bucheler’s outstanding year in net led him to earning Best Goaltender in the All South Division and All NAHL team. The Montreal native started this year w/ a lower-body injury which sidelined him for most of training camp and almost a month into the regular season. The two-time Goaltender of the Month winner would recover fully and prosper between the pipes, posting an NAHL-franchise best 28 wins and 6 shutouts on the campaign. The second-year Bugs goalie would have a 1.92 GAA which was ranked second best out of all goaltenders in the NAHL.
Nichol’s outgoing personality and kind heartiness earned him the All South Division and All NAHL Community Service Award. The Bugs Alternate Captain has shown superb leadership on and off the ice and a great community outreach to help him earn this honor. The talented Shreveport Center is expected to return next season in a Mudbug jersey.
