Brahmas Stymie Bugs & hand SHV Fourth Straight Loss

Jan 20, 2024

The Shreveport Mudbugs (23-11-2) never led and couldn’t generate many chances falling to their rival Lone Star Brahmas, 2-1 which was their fourth straight loss overall in George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.

The Brahmas struck at 12:04 of the opening period when David Skuhrovec slipped in his ninth goal of the year from the slot to give LSB a 1-0 lead.
SHV responded at 17:24 of the second as Ryan Burke banged in his 13th goal of the year from the left point to even the score, 1-1. Brayden Cook and Hayden Nichol earned the helpers on Burke’s game-tying tally. The Bugs led in SOG, 18-11 after two.

LSB would score the go-ahead goal at 8:42 of the third period as Max Hamstad stole a puck in a neutral zone and fired in his fourth tally of the year to give the visiting team a 2-1 lead. The Brahmas held off any late surge from Shreveport to hand the Bugs their fourth straight overall loss.

The Bugs and Brahmas will conclude their Mardi Gras themed rivalry series tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. from George’s Pond at Hirsch Coliseum. Please stick around after the game as we’ll be auctioning off our player-worn specialty jerseys.
