Brahmas Blank Bugs

Jan 29, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs (17-4-3) were blanked by the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-0 Friday night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
The Bugs and Brahmas had a hard-hitting opening period, but the biggest blow was dealt to the home team as Billy Feczko was tossed out of the game with a 5-min penalty and game misconduct after apparently making head contact on Frederick Paine in the neutral zone. Bugs led in SOG, 8-7 after one period of play.
Lone Star struck first in the contest at 3:57 of the 2nd period on a 5 on 3 PP when Andrew DeCarlo shot in his team-leading 12th tally of the season through the slot to give the Brahmas a 1-0 lead. Shreveport squandered their own 5 on 3 PP and got a goal from Garrett Steele taken off the board after lead official Jack Young ruled it was goalie interference late in the period.
The Brahmas put the game out of reach with goals from Caige Sterzer at 5:29 and another tally from DeCarlo at 6:58 to make it a 3-0 Lone Star edge.
Shreveport drops just its second game in regulation at the George.

Shreveport and Lone Star will conclude this two-game series tomorrow night at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. It’s “Princess Night” at the George with puck drop scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
