Brahmas Beat the Bugs

The Shreveport Mudbugs (20-16-6) stumbled and fell short to the Lone Star Brahmas, 3-1 Thursday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
The Brahmas put the Mudbugs in an early hole in the 1st period as Frankie Trazzera and Jake Suede scored at 13:56 and 17:35 respectively to take a 2-0 lead. Lone Star led in SOG, 10-9 after one period of play.
The Brahmas added to their lead in the 2nd period when the Bugs blueline broke down and Blake Evennou was able to shoot in a goal at 6:25 as Leo Chuard was out of position to make it a 3-0 Brahmas lead. The Bugs put a good push late in the 2nd period, but couldn’t break through on the scoreboard. Shreveport led in SOG, 21-14 after two periods of play.
The Mudbugs showed life at the start of the 3rd period when Conor Witherspoon buried home his sixth goal of the year from the slot at 1:29 to make it a 3-1 contest. Anton Rubstov would get the only assist on the goal That would be the closest the Bugs would get as Brahmas goalie Seth Eisele made 36 saves to grab the win in net. Shreveport out-shot Lone Star, 37-22 in the game.
The loss snaps the Mudbugs three-game winning streak and puts them in a tie for 2nd place in the South division with 46 points.

The Mudbugs and Brahmas will continue this three-game series tomorrow night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. It will be “Wizard night” at the George. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m. ​
