Brahmas Batter Bugs

Nov 14, 2021

The Shreveport Mudbugs (5-8-3) couldn’t do much right and dropped a 9-2 decision to the Lone Star Brahmas at the Nytex Sports Centre Saturday night.
The Brahmas got off to a very fast start in the opening frame as Artur Turansky lit the lamp in front to give Lone Star an early 1-0 edge at 3:33. Turanksy would add another on a tic-tac-toe transition and beat Devon Bobak far side for his second tally of the game to push the Lone Star lead to 2-0 at 8:18. Lone Star would add another when Tyler Nasca shot one in from the left point through traffic to make it a 3-0 contest at 13:39. Shreveport would get one back when Billy Feczko would fire one home from the slot for his fourth goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game at 13:50. But Lone Star would answer yet again at 19:50 when Frankie Ireland would cut through the slot and slip in his seventh goal of the season to make it a 4-1 contest. The Brahmas led in SOG, 16-6 after one.
The Brahmas poured it on in the 2nd period with goals from Jack Collins, Turansky, Nasca, and Tanner Daniels at 4:15, 9:26, 13:58, and 17:49 respectively to cap off another four-goal period for Lone Star. Turanksy earned the hat trick. Simon Bucheler took over in net to begin the middle period. In the middle of all this, Nik Miller was tip in his fourth tally of the season on the PP. Lone Star led in SOG, 30-10 after two periods of play.
The Brahmas added another goal at 11:21 of the 3rd period to make it a 9-2 contest with Dylan Smith scoring his fourth tally of the year. The game got even more testy towards the end of the game highlighted by a spearing call from Johnny Hallard which knocked him out of the game.
Shreveport has now lost seven of their last eight contests.

Shreveport’s longest road trip of the season continues next weekend in El Paso, TX as they’ll battle the Rhinos for a two-game series beginning next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. from the El Paso County Coliseum.
