The Shreveport Mudbugs (17-7-2) got a big game from Bryce Boucher and the streaking Jonah Jasser to help beat the defending champions in the Oklahoma Warriors, 3-2 at George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum Friday night.
OKW got on the board early in the 1st period at 10:49 when Cooper Boulanger banged in his ninth goal of the year in front on the PP to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead. SHV came up empty in the opening period despite out-shooting the visiting team, 14-8 after one.
After the Warriors scored another goal early in the second period, the Mudbugs exploded after that. It started w/ Bryce Boucher getting time and space in front and roofing in his third goal of the year to make it a 2-1 contest at 6:31. Jonah Jasser and Colin Vassallo earned the helpers on SHV’s first goal of the game. The Bugs wouldn’t stop there as just 1:19 later, it was Jasser jolting in his second tally of the season from the LW circle to dramatically even the score, 2-2. Boucher and Liam Fleet picked up the assists on Jasser’s second tally in his last three games. Shreveport led in SOG, 25-17 after two.
The game stayed tied 2-2 until the 8:29 mark of the third period as Jasser directed a shot towards the net which was redirected in from Boucher in front for his second goal of the game to give the Bugs a 3-2 lead. Jasser and Wil Murphy earned the assists on the eventual GW goal. SHV held off a furious surge from Oklahoma at the end to win for the sixth time in their past seven games.
Eliot Seguin-Lescarbeau earned his 12th victory in net making 23 stops in the contest.
