SHREVEPORT, LA- Earlier today (November 3rd 2026), the North American Hockey League announced its Bauer Hockey Players of The Month which included crowning Mudbugs first-year defenseman Antoine Cormier as it’s Defenseman of the Month of October!
Cormier (’08), the Quebec City native, joined the Bugs during camp and impressed the coaching staff early on. From there, Cormier has started in all 16 Games so far this season and leads the league in points amongst defenseman with 20 points. He was earlier in the season named the South Division Star of the week for the week of October 19th-25th.
Cormier in a quote from NAHL.com when asked about what this honor means to him said, “Winning this award is a huge honor, but it really comes down to the hard work our whole team puts in every day. It’s nice to get individual recognition, but it’s really just a reflection of the trust my teammates and coaches place in me.”
Cormier also said when asked about his October success added that, “For me, it came down to playing with confidence and having the freedom from our coaching staff and teammates to be creative and generate offense. I focused heavily on moving the puck north quickly, making clean transition passes, and jumping into the rush when the lanes opened up. Having great teammates around me made my job easy; they created space, finished plays, and made it easy for me to find them from the blue line.”
Congratulations once again to Mudbugs defenseman, #21 Antoine Cormier on this tremendous honor!
