Goldie’s Thrilling OT Goal Helps Bugs Even Series with Brahmas

The Shreveport Mudbugs (1-1) flipped the script and it was Jaden Goldie’s OT tally propelling his team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Lone Star Brahmas to even the best-of-five opening round series, 1-1 at Nytex Sports Centre Saturday night.
After a scoreless opening period, the Bugs broke through at 16:48 as Garrett Steele rifled home his first of the playoffs in front to give Shreveport a 1-0 edge. Logan Gotinsky made the perfect pass to earn one assist and Tristan Zarsky started the play to earn the secondary helper. LSB responded quickly at 18:35 as Ivan Zadvernyuk redirected in a goal to even the score, 1-1. The two-time Robby Cup Champs came back w/ an answer though when Nik Miller got open in front and blistered in his first goal of the postseason for SHV to regain the lead 2-1 at 19:08. Jake Mack and Eric Vitale picked up the assists. The Bugs led in SOG, 17-13 after two.
LSB put a strong push in the third as they out-shot SHV 8-1 in the period and it was Zadvernyuk again who lifted home his second goal of the night from the far side to even the score, 2-2 at 15:53 sending the game to another OT affair.
The Bugs flipped the script tonight as Jaden Goldie raced up the right side w/ a burst of speed and snapped a puck past Arthur Smith along the near post at 18:31 to send Shreveport to a dramatic 3-2 OT victory over the Brahmas.
Nikola Goich made 26 stops to earn his win in these playoffs and help SHV even the series, 1-1.
The Bugs and Brahmas will shift their best-of-five opening round playoff series to George’s Pond in Hirsch Coliseum for game 3 next Friday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
