Mudbugs Tender Top Midget Goaltender

SHREVEPORT – The Shreveport Mudbugs, proud members of the North American League are pleased to announce the signing of goaltender Joey Lamoreaux to a tender contract for the 2017-2018 season. The 1999 born goaltender currently ranks top 3 in his league in both save percentage and goals against average.

“We operate with a very small list of goaltenders who we believe are high quality,” Mudbugs Director of Scouting Mike Grattan said. “Joey is the goaltender we have been targeting all season. He is athletic, yet calm and very positionally sound. He’s the guy we wanted and we feel fortunate that he has chosen Shreveport as the place to continue his development.”

Through 15 games back-stoppping the Milwaukee Jr. Admirals U18 AAA team, Lamoreaux has posted a 9-4-2 record. His save percentage is an impressive .939, and he has surrendered just under 1.5 goals per game. Lamoreaux has posted two shutouts in the Tier I Elite ‘AAA’ Hockey League and has logged the second highest number of minutes played among active T1EHL goaltenders.

The 6’1, 175 pound Wisconsin native was selected by the Madison Capitols in the 6th round of the USHL draft last spring. He has spent his entire ‘AAA’ amateur career in the Jr. Admirals organization.

Mudbugs Associate Head Coach Francis Anzalone, a former goaltender with a track record of coaching future Division I goalies, echoes Mike Grattan’s sentiment about Lamoreaux’s signing.

“Joey checks the boxes,” Anzalone said. “He certainly has very good goalie tools but he is also a highly competitive athlete who works at his craft daily and takes pride in truly earning his starts. Players want to play in front of that type of guy, and we feel we have that personality in Joey.”
