Bugs Fall to the Ice Rays

Dec 29, 2018

The Shreveport Mudbugs (15-13-5) got off to a slow start and couldn’t overcome it late as they fell to the Corpus Christi Ice Rays, 5-2 Friday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

The Mudbugs trailed 1-0 late in the first period when Jay Feiwell drove the puck to the net and it was C.J. McGee who was able to bang in the rebound for his eighth goal of the year. Feiwell earned the only assist on the goal at 18:53 tying the game, 1-1. Corpus Christi led in SOG, 16-11 after one period of play.

Corpus Christi scored a pair of goals in the 2nd period and out-shot Shreveport 13-11 in the frame and 29-22 overall after two.
Shreveport grabbed a big goal to open up the third period when C.J. Regula backhanded home his sixth goal from the slot to pull the Bugs within one at 3-2. Gueorgui Feduolov earned the assist on the goal. That would be the closest the Mudbugs would get as the Ice Rays tallied in two goals to put Shreveport away, 5-2.

Corpus Christi has now won nine straight games overall.

The Mudbugs will conclude their two-game against the Ice Rays tomorrow night at 7:11 p.m. from Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
