Mudbugs Shut Out Jacks

Feb 17, 2018

The Shreveport Mudbugs (32-6-3-2) scored enough and got great goaltending to help shutout the Odessa Jackalopes on Sweetheart Night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.
After a scoreless first period, the Mudbugs broke that with a brilliant setup from Jake Transit feeding the puck up to Andrew Lane sprinting into the zone and firing home his third goal of the year. The goal came at 4:47 of the second period. Shreveport led 1-0 after two periods of play.
The Mudbugs would hold onto that 1-0 lead before Jack Clement buried home his ninth goal of the year on the powerplay from the near circle at 11:48. Lane and Roberts Baranovskis got the assists on Clement’s tally. Shreveport led 2-0 when Cameron Cook iced the game with an empty-netter for his 18th goal of the season.
Gustavs Grigals picks up his second shutout of the season making 20 saves in the game.
Shreveport improves to 6-0-1 in seven meetings against Odessa this season.

The Mudbugs and Jacks will conclude their two-game set tomorrow night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm.
