The Shreveport Mudbugs (22-17-5) went back and forth with Corpus Christi  and were able to get a late goal from Logan Heroux to help lift them to a 5-3 victory which was their fifth straight win against the IceRays this season.
The IceRays opened up the scoring at 9:06 of the 1st period when Colby Seitz raced in from the right wing and backhanded home his sixth tally of the season to give Corpus Christi the early 1-0 lead. The lead wouldn’t last long as Trenten Heyde raced through the slot and hammered home his first goal of the year to tie the game up 1-1 at 9:38. Tim Khokhlachev and Johnny Hallard did the dirty work down low to set up Heyde’s chance and earned the assists on the goal. The Bugs would then take their first lead of the night and Burke Simpson redirected home his eighth goal of the season at 15:49 to give Shreveport the 2-1 edge. Carter Green and Connor Gatto would pick up the assists. Corpus would respond at 18:36 as Cam Crolley would redirect a goal of his own in front to even the score, 2-2.
The Bugs would retake the lead at 7:33 as Logan Gotinsky and Khokhlachev worked it off the near corner wall and found Gunner Moore in the high slot who roofed in his fifth goal of the season to give the reigning champs a 3-2 lead. Corpus answered back yet again at 9:18 as Dylan Contreras would fire home his fifth goal of the year in front off an initial missed shot from Juraj Elias and it was a shorthanded tally to even the score, 3-3. Shreveport led in SOG, 28-18 after two.
Shreveport would go back up ahead at 9:32 of the third period when Logan Heroux hammered home his second goal in as many games from the right point through traffic which gave the Bugs the lead back at 4-3. Khokhlachev and Lukas Sedlacek earned the helpers in which would be the game-winning tally. The Bugs would grab an insurance tally at Logan Valkama would tip home his sixth tally of the season to push the lad to 5-3. Garrett Steele and Heyde picked up the assists.
