Lightbody returns to the Mudbugs for his sixth year with the team and eighth season as a pro overall.  Last season, he served as an alternative Captain for the third consecutive year and was again one of the top blueliners in the CHL.  Lightbody was voted the CHL's "Best Defensive Defenseman" in the league's annual Best of the Best poll in 2008 and finished with the third-best plus/minus rating in the league.  Among CHL defensemen, only his Mudbugs defensive partner, Dale Lupul, had a better plus/minus rating than Lightbody's +32.  He led the Mudbugs with 167 penalty minutes and 12 fighting majors chipping in eight assists on the offensive end as well.

Lightbody enters 08-09 with 748 penalty minutes in his Mudbugs career, placing him fourth on the team's all-time list.  He is also one of only eight players to appear in over 300 games for Bossier-Shreveport.
