SHREVEPORT – The Shreveport Mudbugs, proud members of the North American League are pleased to announce the signing of Defenseman Jack Clement to a tender agreement for the 2017-2018 season.  Clement becomes the seventh player signed by the club in preparation for next season.  He hails from Brother Rice High School in Detroit, MI.

“Jack is a very poised Defenseman who sees the ice well,” Director of Scouting Mike Grattan said.  “He is calm with the puck, has a good stick and obviously has the gift of size and reach.  We have watched him in different settings, at different times of the year, and he has shown consistency in his play, a necessary quality for a Defenseman.”

The Bloomfield Hills, MI native is currently enjoying a successful senior season at Brother Rice.  In 24 games played, Clement has checked in with an impressive 15 goals and 26 assists for 41 points.  The 6’3, 175 pound D-man is captain of the Warriors, and has dawned his school’s colors for the past three seasons.  The 1999 birthyear has improved his point production each season and has more than doubled his 2015-2016 total.

Associate Head Coach Francis Anzalone likes the player Clement is now but believes the Bugs’ latest addition is just scratching the surface.

“Like with any player, there will certainly be a transition period for Jack,” Anzalone said.  “The jump from the high school to Tier II Junior ‘A’ level is significant, but we believe that Jack’s size, demeanor and mindset will accelerate the process of becoming a Mudbug.  We are excited about his future.”

Clement is the second Defenseman tendered by the Bugs for next season.  To learn more about Clement and all of the Mudbugs’ 2017-2018 signings, click here.
