Mudbugs Win First Home Exhibition Game of 2017-2018 Season

The Shreveport Mudbugs used timely goals and timely saves to grab a 4-2 victory over the Topeka Roadrunners and improve to 2-0 on the 2017-2018 preseason slate.

Topeka got on the board first when Chad Hillebrand tucked in a rebound chance on the powerplay to give the Roadrunners an early 1-0 lead just 5:44 into the contest.

Shreveport responded as Warren Natyshak tipped home a shot from Henry Frontini to tied the game at 1 at the 19:46 mark.
The Bugs broke a 1-1 tie early in the 2nd period when Roberts Baranovskis fired home a perfect shot, top shelf at the 4:30 mark on Topeka to give Shreveport a 2-1 lead. The home team added to their lead when Cole Quisenberry hacked in a juicy puck in front of him at the 17:06 mark to give Shreves a 3-1 advantage.
Topeka scored early in the 3rd period, but Cam Cook slammed home his first goal of the preseason assisted by Brendon Gysbers to help seal a Mudbugs’ 4-2 win over the Roadrunners.
James Durham gets the win in nets in his debut for the Bugs.
